On June 9, at the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan, Ambassador Designate Designate Pham Quang Hieu received Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance, H.E. Mr. Nikai Toshihiro, who was accompanied by other members of of the Alliance leaders, members of House of Representatives and House of Councilors, leaders of prefectures and leading Japanese corporations.

Ambassador Designate Designate Pham Quang Hieu highly appreciated the great contributions by Mr. Nikai and members of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance as well as by close friends of Vietnam to the strong development of the two countries' relations, especially their efforts to promote economic cooperation activities, cultural exchanges, people-to-people and parliamentary exchanges.

Ambassador Designate Pham Quang Hieu emphasized the close and trusted relationships between leaders, levels and localities is a solid foundation for strengthening and deepening the Vietnam-Japan friendship cooperation. Ambassador Designate Pham Quang Hieu also shared with Mr. Nikai about his priority tasks as Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan, especially in the last 6 months of 2023 with various activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations.

Mr. Nikai recalled the good memories of the recent visit to Vietnam by the delegation of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance led by him with the participation of members of the National Assembly and local leaders, Japanese businesses; expressed thanks for the extremely warm welcome of the leaders and localities of Vietnam where the delegation visited. Chairman Nikai also committed that he and members of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance will give their best support for Ambassador Designate Pham Quang Hieu to fulfill his duties as Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan, promoting relations between the two countries.

Chairman Nikai and the accompanying members also exchanged measures to promote relations between the two countries in areas such as agricultural cooperation, (especially investment and technology transfer in agriculture, promoting the import of Vietnamese agricultural products, opening the door for agricultural products of the two countries to access each other's markets, including the green skin grapefruit of Vietnam and the grape of Japan), cooperation between localities, tourism, education, labor, judicial reform, smart city construction and energy.

Leaders of Yamanashi and Wakayama prefectures informed they would send delegations to Quang Binh and Phu Yen provinces in Viet Nam to seek opportunities for investment and business cooperation as well as promote people- to-people exchanges.

On this occasion, Ambassador Designate Pham Quang Hieu respectfully presented the gift from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Chairman Nikai Toshihiro.
