On June 20, Ambassador Designate Pham Quang Hieu received H.E. Mr. Hanazumi Hideyo, Governor of Niigata at the Embassy of Viet Nam.

The two sides agreed on measures to promote relations between Vietnamese localities, including the relations between Thanh Hoa and Vinh provinces, Hai Phong City, and Niigata Prefecture. Both sides agreed to strengthen investment and trade cooperation.

Niigata governor said the prefecture is willing to receive more Vietnamese workers as well as support Vietnamese community in Niigata. Both sides also agreed to organize cultural and people-to-people exchange activities, especially in 2023 to celebrate 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
