Viet Nam hosted the 313th ASEAN Committee in Tokyo and Chairmanship Hand-over ceremony
On December 20 2022, Viet Nam, the chair ASEAN Committee in Tokyo Meeting (ACT), hosted the last ACT Meeting of 2022 and the Chairmanship Hand-over ceremony at the Embassy of Viet Nam in Tokyo, with the participation of ASEAN members and the guest of honor, Mr. Kanetaka Masahito, Chairman of International Police Association Japan Section, Former Commissioner of the National Police Agency.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh, Chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Embassy of Viet Nam in Japan congratulated the Embassy of the Philippines on the success of the ASEAN Family Day on November 12th and expressed his condolences to the Embassy of Indonesia on the deadly earthquake in West Java on November 21st, which resulted in the deaths of over 600 people and injuries to thousands.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh noted that 2022 has been a significant year for the ASEAN region, with ASEAN, G20, and APEC summits being held consecutively from November 10th to 19th. These three significant summits brought together leaders from almost 40 countries and constituted some of the most influential gatherings of the United Nations. The holding of multiple face-to-face summits in a row for the first time in over two years, despite pandemic precautions, is a testament to the vital role of ASEAN in leading and addressing global issues at the highest levels of diplomacy, particularly in the recovery from the pandemic.
With 2023 marking the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan relations, Mr Nguyen Duc Minh and other ASEAN member agreed that ASEAN and Japan should work closely together to host various commemorative events and exchange programs throughout the year in Tokyo to celebrate this milestone.
As a guest of honor, Mr. Kanneda Masahito also shared the crucial role of International Police Association in maintaining international security in the region and with 50 years of ASEAN- Japan relations, further cooperation should be enhance in the field of international security in the region.
Viet Nam transfer the ACT Chairmanship hammer to Brunei
On the same day, the ACT Chairmanship hammer hand-over ceremony was witnessed by ASEAN members. Mr Nguyen Duc Minh showed his appreciation and gratitude to all ASEAN members for their support and cooperation for Viet Nam's six-month chairmanship and hope that Brunei will continue to thrive and make important contributions to the ASEAN community, especially during the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan relations next year.
