Ambassador Designate Designate Pham Quang Hieu paid a courtesy visit to Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance (JVPFA) Nikai Toshihiro in Tokyo on May 15.

At the meeting, President Nikai warmly welcomed Ambassador Designate Designate Pham Quang Hieu to assume his duties as Vietnamese Ambassador Designate to Japan as the two countries are celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations this year. Mr. Nikai affirmed that the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance will provide maximum support to Ambassador Designate Designate Pham Quang Hieu to fulfill his duties and expressed gratitude to Vietnamese leaders for the hospitality extended to him and the delegation of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance during their visit to Vietnam in early May.

President Nikai, who is also former Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan, expressed his willingness to work closely with Ambassador Designate Designate Pham Quang Hieu to promote bilateral relations in all fields, including agricultural trade, women and youth exchange, and cooperation among localities of the two countries.

Hieu spoke highly of Nikai’s visit to Vietnam and the practical contributions by the chairman and the JVPFA in general to promoting the bilateral relations. He expressed his honour to assume his duties as Vietnamese Ambassador Designate to Japan and discussed priority tasks during his tenure with the JVPFA president.
